(Also offered as POLS 2035.) Examines trajectories and concepts in Indigenous theory, politics and governance that may include Indigenous dispossession, settler colonialism, Indigenous feminism, sovereignty, survivance, recognition/reconciliation, resurgence, and refusal.
Enrollment Requirements: Recommended preparation: Introduction to Native American and Indigenous Studies or POLS 1002 or any course in American Politics. Not open to students who have passed POLS 2998 when offered as "Native American and Indigenous Theory and Politics."

The histories and entanglements of colonialism, racial capitalism, and climate change. Focusing on Indigenous resistance, social movements, ecologies, and media. Working critically and creatively toward more just and regenerative climate futures.

Interdisciplinary exploration of Afro-Indigenous peoples’ contemporary political struggles for freedom in Latin America amid varied threats; struggles include those for political autonomy, territory, environmental justice, and freedom from racialized and gendered violence. Examination of tactics like legal cases, direct action, and creative production.

(Also offered as ENGL 2608.) An introductory study of cinematic images of Indigenous peoples across historic, geographic, and generic categories. Particular attention will be paid to how cinema is an expression of Indigenous sovereignty and the ways colonialism shapes the film industry.
