Fashion Concentration (optional)
Students majoring in French may choose to pursue a concentration in fashion. The French major with a concentration in fashion aims to provide students with a survey of the historical, technical, creative, and business aspects of the global French fashion industry in its broader cultural context. The program prepares graduates for specialized roles in the international fashion and luxury goods markets, particularly in French-speaking countries. This concentration in fashion requires a semester of study at the American Business School in Paris (via a UConn Experiential Global Learning program) whose selection of fashion courses includes "Made in Paris: Luxury Quality Management" and "Sales Techniques for Luxury Brands."
To complete the concentration in Fashion, students must complete, as part of the 30 credits required for the major, a minimum of nine credits in fashion approved by the Coordinator of the French language program during their semester at the American Business School in Paris.
