Admission Requirements and Course of Study1
There are no formalized application requirements for this certificate, though submission of the Certificate Participation form should be filed with the Registrar’s Office upon commencement of certificate course work. The certificate in Health Law requires successful completion of at least twelve credits from the courses listed below. It is recommended that students take the core course before or concurrently with the electives. Students may include in the twelve (12) credit hours up to 3 credits from a list of adjacent field courses.

Learning Objectives
Students will build a foundational understanding of core legal principles, ethical issues, and policy considerations governing the practice of health law.
Health Law Courses:
Students will explore how health law shapes and responds to social, economic, and ethical challenges within the healthcare system, with an emphasis on disparities in access, human rights, mental health, reproductive technologies, and public health.
Students will become familiar with legal principles governing healthcare financing, liability, and operations, preparing them to navigate the complexities of healthcare business and insurance systems.
Students will analyze complex legal problems involving emerging issues in health law and policy, gaining an in-depth understanding of the regulatory environment in which healthcare institutions operate.
