This minor provides a firm basis for understanding the relationships between the structure of all classes of materials, the processing conditions, and the properties of these materials that are critical to science and engineering.
Requirements
It requires the completion of 15 credits including the following:
- Application for the minor two semesters before graduation;
- An approved Plan of Study one semester before graduation;
- MSE 2001 Introduction to Structure, Properties, and Processing of Materials I (or MSE 2101 Materials Science and Engineering I) and MSE 2002 Introduction to Structure, Properties, and Processing of Materials II (or MSE 2102 Materials Science and Engineering II);
- Nine credits, any courses among MSE 3000-level courses, MSE 4000-level courses (but not more than three credits of independent study or directed research), BME 3700 Biomaterials, and CHEG 3156 Polymeric Materials.
This minor is offered by the Materials Science and Engineering Department. For more information, contact the MSE Office by email at mseinfo@engr.uconn.edu or by phone at 860-486-4620.
