Psychological Sciences (BA or BS)
Psychological Sciences offers a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) plan of study. At least one “W” course is required within the major and that typically would be PSYC 2100WQ Principles of Research in Psychology.
Requirements
A maximum of nine 2000+ level transfer credits in psychology may be used toward the major requirements. A maximum of three credits of either 3889 or 3899 (not both) may be used toward the major requirements. PSYC 3880 Field Experience as an S/U course may not be used to fulfill any major requirement .
PSYC 5000+ graduate level courses may be used to fulfill requirements in Group One (three credits maximum), Two (three credits maximum) and Three (six credits maximum) for a maximum of four graduate courses (up to 12 credits) toward the undergraduate major with the approval of the Department Head.
Bachelor of Arts Requirements
- All of the Required Group courses.
- Two courses (six credits) within Group One.
- Two courses (six credits) within Group Two.
- Two courses (six credits) within either Group Three Depth Courses, Group Four Lab Courses or Group Five Experience courses.
- One additional PSYC course in any Group.
- 12 credits of 2000 level or above related courses, which may be particular pre-approved courses or any other upper-level course that are approved by the major advisor.
Bachelor of Science Requirements
- All of the Required Group courses.
- Two courses (six credits) within Group One.
- Two courses (six credits) within Group Two.
- One course (three credits) in Group Three Depth Courses.
- Either (a) Two courses (six credits) within Group Four Lab Courses or (b) one course (three credits) within Group Four Lab Courses and three credits of either PSYC 3889 Undergraduate Research or PSYC 3899 Independent Study and three credits of PSYC 4197W Senior Thesis in Psychology.
- 12 credits of 2000 level or above related courses, which may be particular pre-approved courses or any other upper-level course that are approved by the major advisor.

Accelerated Psychological Sciences MS
Students in the Accelerated M.S. program can choose to complete a Plan A (Thesis) Master’s or a Plan B Master’s. This decision is up to the discretion of the Major Advisor and Division Head.
Students are typically admitted to the accelerated program at the end of the junior year of their undergraduate studies. A total of 12 credits from the Bachelor years can be included. The 12 credits could be a combination of:
- Up to 12 credits of approved required graduate courses from the student’s Undergraduate Plan of Study can be listed on the student’s Graduate Plan of Study.
- Up to six credits of approved undergraduate and graduate courses not used in the student’s Undergraduate Plan of Study.
The accelerated Master of Science in Psychological Sciences is only offered in one of the following six areas of concentration: Developmental Psychology, Ecological Psychology, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Language and Cognition, Neuroscience and Social Psychology.
