Prerequisites: ENGL 1007 or 1010 or 1011 or 2011. Recommended preparation: SPAN 3178.

Grading Basis: Graded

Readings of major authors and works with special emphasis on the development of the short story since the nineteenth century and on its relations to other short narrative forms (such as the fable, the cuadro de costumbres, or the tradiciĆ³n) as well as to significant moments of Spanish-American social history. CA 1.
